Neurosis Begins New Chapter

As of today, after much thought and discussion, visual projections as we have presented them over the last 20 years will no longer be part of Neurosis live shows. We are going to begin the process of reinventing our live presentation. This process will begin at zero, allowing the music to speak for itself and lead us where it may. Whatever form or however long this may take is unknown. This also signals a parting of the ways with our visual artist of the last twelve years, Josh Graham. Josh’s tireless work and talent came at a time when we really needed it and carried us gracefully into the video age with original content we couldn’t have dreamed of when we were just starting out. Our parting comes from a place of mutual respect, friendship and understanding. We all agree that this is a step Neurosis has to take and are open to working together on specific projects in the future. We wish him success and the best of luck with all of his own musical endeavors and artistic passions.

In the spirit of sound,

- Steve, Dave, Jason, Noah, and Scott

Statement from Josh: For us all, time for change has come. The friendships and body of work that have spawned from our time together will live on as we move forward. It has been an honor and a privilege to work with Neurosis over the last 12 years. As the crossroads are upon us, and we feel that the pinnacle of our collaborative efforts have been reached; we now look toward our individual futures with support and encouragement. Constant reinvention is at the heart and soul of us all, and we will all continue to persevere. Despite the larger picture winding down as we move on in our own directions, we will continue to work together on specific legacy projects including reissues and possibly more if/when the right projects come up.

Onward.

Josh Graham

The fifth NEUROSIS album to be handled by engineering sorcerer Steve Albini, the hour-long Honor Found In Decay is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated albums of 2012. The seven tracks harnessed within this release capture the unit’s output at its most emotional and diverse yet, forming what the band members themselves are referring to as their pinnacle studio effort. NEUROSIS recently unveiled a visual trailer for the album using imagery shot and created by their own visual artist Josh Graham, and edited together by video architect Kenneth Thomas, who directed their 2007 Given To The Rising documentary. For the first time in the band’s history, intimate details of the handcrafted cover artwork have been made publicly available, allowing the installation to be viewed in motion, not just still photographs. Visual Trailer For Honor Found In Decay

NEUROSIS today proudly reveals a brand new visual trailer created for their anticipated tenth studio full-length, Honor Found In Decay.

Using imagery shot and created by Neurosis' visual artist Josh Graham, video architect Kenneth Thomas (also responsible for producing the mini-documentary for NEUROSIS’ 2007-released Given To The Rising) has masterfully edited together an intense look into the new opus. For the first time in the band's history, intimate details of Josh Graham's hand crafted artwork have been made publicly available, allowing the installation to be viewed in motion, not just still photographs. The video also includes personal commentary from guitarists/vocalists Scott Kelly and Steve Von Till on the creation of Honor Found In Decay, as well as the first brief moments of audio to be publicly unleashed.

States Steve Von Till in the early moments of the preview, "A legacy can only be assured if we continually burn down the past and plant seeds in the ashes to grow new, greater things," and is followed by founding member Scott Kelly, who boldly affirms, "If you don't make a record that you think eclipses your previous record, then... you've failed."

In addition to their imminent performance at ATP's Nightmare Before Christmas in England – the lineup culminated by Steve Albini’s band Shellac, and including Wire, Mission of Burma, Oxbow, Melt Banana, Shellac and more – another UK NEUROSIS performance has been confirmed to take place just days later. The extraordinary performance will devastate the HMV Forum in London alongside the almighty Godflesh on December 2nd, as the only other UK concert in support of Honor Found In Decay. Stated Von Till about this appearance: “Neurosis and Godflesh together is long overdue! We have been admirers of Godflesh since their first recordings. Streetcleaner changed heavy music forever. I don't think anyone can argue that this will be an extremely powerful and special night for all of us."

Honor Found In Decay will reaffirm to the planet why NEUROSIS remain one of the most important heavy acts in existence. The album will emerge through the band’s own Neurot Recordings, in Germany October 26th, in the rest of Europe October 29th, and in North America on October 30th, with their cohorts at previous label home Relapse Records confirmed to handle the vinyl release of the album.

Artwork And Track Listing For 'Honor Found In Decay' Revealed

Anticipation for Honor Found In Decay, the tenth studio album by NEUROSIS, is starting to intensify, as we count down the days until its North American release date on October 30th. Like an eclipse, a brand new NEUROSIS album is not a frequent occurrence and when it comes around, every last moment must be savored. For this momentous event, all the forces are aligned.

NEUROSIS forged the songs on Honor Found In Decay with the revered Steve Albini, marking their fifth collaboration with the engineer in their longstanding relationship. Their monolithic sound captured at Electrical Audio studios, Chicago, the seven tracks were then mastered by John Golden at Golden Mastering in Ventura, California.

Aesthetics have always been paramount for NEUROSIS and with Honor Found In Decay, Steve Von Till, Scott Kelly, Noah Landis, Jason Roeder and Dave Edwardson’s musical vision is brilliantly evoked by NEUROSIS‘ visual guru Josh Graham. And with that, we proudly unveil the cover art and track listing for this prodigious album, which is shaping up to be one of the biggest releases in the band’s extensive history.

Honor Found In Decay Track Listing:
1. We All Rage In Gold
2. At The Well
3. My Heart For Deliverance
4. Bleeding The Pigs
5. Casting Of The Ages
6. All Is Found… In Time
7. Raise The Dawn

NEUROSIS have been invited to perform at ATP’s Nightmare Before Christmas at Camber Sands Holiday Camp, England on November 30th through December 2nd, which Steve Albini’s band Shellac have been asked to curate. Keep your ears to the streets for a plethora of pending announcements on NEUROSIS in the weeks ahead, including music from Honor Found In Decay, additional live appearances and more.

NEUROSIS: Title Of Tenth Full-Length Revealed

It is said that great art has the power to take us outside of ourselves and bring us closer to ourselves simultaneously. Few bands have accomplished this rare feat on a more profound and consistent basis than NEUROSIS. For nearly three decades, their music has touched the hearts and minds of young men and women seeking contact with something beyond the physical world, something intangible, something that expresses the inner tumult of the human condition in a way that transcends time and space. Something that not only provokes questions but maybe even hints at answers.

Since 1985 this matchless force has surpassed the boundaries of any genre, never ceasing to mutate and progress their songwriting and sonic delivery, and never failing to mesmerize audiences both in the studio and onstage. And as the anticipation from their diehard fanbase reaches a boiling point, this week NEUROSIS unveil the title of their tenth full-length studio creation, which will manifest itself as Honor Found In Decay.

The follow-up to their acclaimed 2007-released Given To The Rising album, the music on Honor Found In Decay is both torturous and transcendent. It is the ongoing exposition of a vast internal dialogue that seems to carry the weight of eons. With the right kind of ears and eyes, it can seem like the trials and tribulations of mankind are being channeled through five individuals: Steve Von Till, Scott Kelly, Noah Landis, Jason Roeder and Dave Edwardson. And yet? They will be the first ones to tell you that they are just regular people trying to make sense of the world around them. Aided by Josh Graham, their resident visual guru, they transmit their interpretations through multiple sensory planes. The degree to which Neurosis allows them to step out of their everyday lives is the distance between one and zero, the distance between thinking and doing, the distance between this minute and the one that may or may not follow. Which is to say: NEUROSIS takes them outside of themselves and brings them closer to themselves. Simultaneously.

This next chapter in the evolution of NEUROSIS will see worldwide release through the band’s own Neurot Recordings this Autumn, in Germany October 26th, in the UK October 29th, and in North America on October 30th.

Further details on Honor Found In Decay will be made available over the coming weeks.

NEUROSIS:
Scott Kelly – vocals/guitars
Steve Von Till – vocals/guitars
Dave Edwardson – bass
Jason Roeder – drums
Noah Landis – keyboards
Josh Graham – visual effects, art
